Xuefeng Park, an AAA National Tourism Attraction and a national classic red tourism attraction, is a large city park integrating commemoration, patriotism education, national defense education and leisure tourism, and the largest patriotism base in Suqian. Completed in September 2007 with an area of 320 mu, it is divided into four areas, namely the memorial area, visiting area, education area and service area. The park is designed with “a museum, a tower, a lake, two bridges, three sculptures and four squares” around the main axis, and links Yude Square, Red Star Gazebo, Jiuyue Lake, Feiqi Bridge, Jiesheng Pavilion, Maima Slope, Peng Xuefeng Memorial Hall, Fore-dawn Square and other scenic spots through Long March Road, Changhuai Avenue and General Avenue, constituting the landscape system of the park. The main hall of the memorial is divided into the exhibition hall, the general hall, the fore-dawn theater and the lecture hall. The outer wall is mainly constructed with white and red granite stone, meaning snow and maple leaves. It is designed based on the name of General Peng Xuefeng (In Chinese Xue means snow and Feng means maple), reflecting the pureness of snow and the hotness of maple. The memorial is 100 meters high, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the general’s birth; the monument is 70 meters high, symbolizing the 70th anniversary of the war; the big step in front of the tower is 37 meters wide, implying the general’s revolutionary career of 37 years. The outer walls of the monument are built with white granite stone and transparent glass, implying a sharp sword designed by General Peng Xuefeng. The towering monument reflects the heroically fighting and sacrificing spirit of his team in the Anti-Japanese War.
