Located in the Scientific Experiment Zone of Hongze Lake Wetland National Reserve in Sihong, Jiangsu, Hongze Lake Wetland Park is an AAAA national tourism attraction and one of the top ten bases for ecological recreation. The wetland is the biggest freshwater wetland national reserve in Jiangsu Province, the 11th nationwide and the 2nd within east China. The inland freshwater and wetland ecological system, birds and wildlife under the state protection, fish spawning areas and Xiacaowan standard stratigraphic section are protected within the park. Within the reserve there are 194 species of birds including the first-grade birds under the state protection of great bustards, oriental white storks, black storks, red-crowned crane and so on, 26 kinds of second-grade birds under the state protection, and the world’s endangered bird “Reed Parrotbill”. Hongze Lake Wetland is rich in tourism resources and is remarkably appealing.

Planned and designed by Nanjing University and Nanjing Forestry University, the Park has taken advantages of the abundant resources in Hongze Lake Wetland Nature Reserve and been built up as an integrated tourism area for leisure, sightseeing and science education. The Park has visiting spots of Multi-media Exhibition Hall, Wetland Ecological Museum, Ancient Sizhou Culture Museum, Wetland Aquarium, Wetland Landscape 3D Cinema, Lotus Grand View Garden, Lotus Pool, Fish Nursery Center, Water Wheel, Fishing Center, Reed Marshes, Delicate Lotus Garden and Cultural Wall. It has also been well equipped with sports areas of Aquatic Tennis Court, Beach Volleyball Court, Driving Range and Aquatic Sports Center, and service facilities including Goldwater Village Resort, Tourist Service Center and Wetland Management Center. The whole park shows you a picturesque scenery with a harmonious coexistence of immense lake, vast grass, fragrant lotus, winding bridges, thick reeds and chirping birds.
