It is recorded that the business of Shuanggou Distillery originated from 1732 (the 10th year of Emperor Yong Zheng, Qing Dynasty), till now it has undergone a long history of 300 years during which time it accumulated profound culture deposits. In May 2002, hundreds of international geological scientists from home and abroad gathered together and made a specific study on Shuanggou Town, Home of Drunk Apes. A series of academic researches have been organized by them, who were enlightened by the geological philosophy of “Tian Di Sheng Ren”, to prove Shuanggou Town as one origin of life evolution, the root of human beings and the home of natural liquor with perfect brewing environment.
Shuanggou Cellar covers an area of 1380.6 square meters which consists of 51 underground liquor pools with a total capacity of 3,750 cubic meters. Each pool has a depth of 5.5 meters and a storage of 75 cubic meters’ liquor. The underground cellar remedies the weaknesses of pottery jars which will take up more area inconvenient for liquor blending and easy to cause high liquor loss rate. In 1983, the large liquor storage project of Shuanggou Distillery was awarded “Top 20 Scientific and Technological Achievements of China Food Industry” and the third prize of “Scientific and Technological Achievements” issued by the National Light Industry Department.
